[patch] Update to 1.6.1 (#1111876)
Scratch build completed http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=12198933 Current upstream release supports Python 3, please provide a Python 3 package for Fedora. According to the Python packaging guidelines [0], software must be packaged for Python 3 if upstream supports it. The guidelines give detailed information on how to do this, and even provide an example spec file [1]. The current best practice is to provide subpackages for the two Python versions (called "Common SRPM" in the guidelines). Alternatively, if nothing depends on your Python2 package, you can just switch to Python 3 entirely. It's fine to do this in Rawhide only. If anything is unclear, or if you need any kind of assistance with the porting, you can ask on IRC (#fedora-python on Freenode), or reply here. We'll be happy to help! [0] https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Packaging:Python [1] https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Packaging:Python#Example_common_spec_file Richard, do you need any help with the update, or with Python 3 support? Update to 1.7.1 version including Python 3 subpackage
I have attached Python 3 patch which includes
- update to version 1.7.1
- source update
- modernized specfile with Python 3 packaging
Hello. Thank you for new specfile. It looks good to me, but I have one question: Why there is no Require of OpenID package in python3 subpackage? There is python-openid in python2 subpackage but no python3-openid in python3 subpackage. Update to 1.7.2 version including Python 3 subpackage
Hi Lumír,
I have fixed the missing dependency, and provide a new 1.7.2 version spec file.
Hello. Thank you for the update. Specfile looks good to me. If maintainer has nothing against, we can push this changes after a week. Koji scratch build: http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=15293668 Have a nice day. I've just found that this package contains folder 'docs' with a lot of files so maybe this package should have separated subpackage for documentation same like python-django-registration. But we can leave this decision up to maintainer. Latest upstream release: 1.7.3 Current version/release in rawhide: 1.3.7-5.fc25 URL: https://pypi.python.org/pypi/django-extensions Please consult the package updates policy before you issue an update to a stable branch: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Updates_Policy More information about the service that created this bug can be found at: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Upstream_release_monitoring Please keep in mind that with any upstream change, there may also be packaging changes that need to be made.
