Patch to fix is already upstream and in fedora elfutils-0.167-1. Reproduced on rhel-7.3 and f25, verified on rhel-7.4 using elfutils-0.168-5.el7. Since the problem described in this bug report should be resolved in a recent advisory, it has been closed with a resolution of ERRATA.
