Patch to set UVC 1.5 video control at 48 none

Description ofriedman 2018-06-18 14:48:22 UTC
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Fedora; Linux x86_64; rv:60.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/60.0
Build Identifier:

During startup the boot process cannot initialize the UVC 1.50 webcam in my Dell XPS 9370 device. This problem was reported on Dell customer community forums and Ubuntu has patched the kernel to resolve the issue. I have searched for the issue extensively and not seen any solution for Fedora 28. https://www.dell.com/community/Linux-General/Dell-xps-13-9370-Webcam-support/td-p/6032049/page/12

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install Fedora 28 on Dell XPS 9370
2. Boot OS
3. Observe dmesg output for uvcvideo
Actual Results:
see pastebin link
Any video recording application will not find the webcam.

Expected Results:
Should make the webcam available to the user.

Thanks for the pointer to the patch. It looks like the patch has been queued up and should be making it's way in tree. Have you tested a rawhide kernel to see if it works there?

Patch to set UVC 1.5 video control at 48

Comment 4 Rémi Menegon 2018-06-24 13:26:01 UTC
Hi all,

Patch is already on master:
https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/jwboyer/fedora.git/commit/?id=f620d1d7afc7db57ab59f35000752840c91f67e7

But for whatever reason, it is still not part of the f28 branch / 4.17 tag.

I can confirm that cherry pick the commit to the f28 branch works flawlessly. The fix corrects the issue of video control not set to 48bytes, and camera works.

Josh, could you please add the commit top the f28 branch?

Thanks!

I haven't but looks like this is on its way to being sorted. Thanks all involved!
