Description Elliott Sales de Andrade 2019-02-04 07:20:11 UTC
According to the homepage of libLAS [1], "As of 2018, libLAS has been replaced by the PDAL project and it is in hibernation or maintenance mode." Perhaps it is time to switch grass to use PDAL instead.

Currently, libLAS is FTBFS against the latest GDAL, causing grass to be FTBFS.

Here current PDAL RPMs are available:

https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/neteler/pdal/

They are based on Devrim Gündüz work we commissioned some years ago. Would be great to see PDAL moved into koji and to then switch in grass.spec accordingly.

Comment 2 Ben Cotton 2019-08-13 19:35:50 UTC
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 31 development cycle.
Changing version to 31.

Comment 3 Elliott Sales de Andrade 2019-08-13 20:07:28 UTC
This is more of a future feature than something specific to F31.

Comment 4 markusN 2019-09-17 08:48:18 UTC
FYI

The latest PDAL 2.0.1 RPM is now available from https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/neteler/pdal/

which requires Laszip, available from https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/neteler/laszip/

I suggest to migrate this to Fedora asap since libLAS is EOL for a long time.

This package has changed maintainer in the Fedora.
Reassigning to the new maintainer of this component.

Comment 6 markusN 2020-04-01 14:17:16 UTC
I have updated the COPR RPM to the latest

PDAL 2.1.0

https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/neteler/pdal/build/1325259/

but I don't know how to make it an official Fedora package (needed to address this bug/wish)...

FYI: meanwhile we are on a good way to make it an official package: BZ#1838686

Once done, this ticket will be addressed.
