Based on a perusal of some bug reports I suspect that the cause is a build problem that prevents Amarok from loading plugins rather than a problem with the database plugin. (I see errors for VLC and GStreamer plugins in debug output obtained using the --debug switch.) See https://bugs.gentoo.org/641060#c8 amarok-2.9.0-4.fc30 has been submitted as an update to Fedora 30. https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2019-4aebf8bc56 may also require rebuilt qt4 components from https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2019-399cb1caab (In reply to Fedora Update System from comment #2) > amarok-2.9.0-4.fc30 has been submitted as an update to Fedora 30. > https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2019-4aebf8bc56 I tried this build and it works. That is, Amarok starts and runs correctly. Thank you! amarok-2.9.0-4.fc30 has been pushed to the Fedora 30 testing repository. If problems still persist, please make note of it in this bug report.
