Description Fedora Release Engineering 2021-02-01 17:18:46 UTC
libkcapi failed to build from source in Fedora rawhide/f34

https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=60912973

For details on the mass rebuild see:

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora_34_Mass_Rebuild
Please fix libkcapi at your earliest convenience and set the bug's status to
ASSIGNED when you start fixing it. If the bug remains in NEW state for 8 weeks,
libkcapi will be orphaned. Before branching of Fedora 35,
libkcapi will be retired, if it still fails to build.

Comment 4 Ondrej Mosnacek 2021-02-02 13:26:29 UTC
This is caused by a bug in cppcheck, which is already fixed upstream, but the fix not in rawhide yet. Since there hasn't been a new release of cppcheck with the fix yet, I opened a PR to add the fix as a patch:
https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/cppcheck/pull-request/8

Comment 5 Susi Lehtola 2021-02-02 16:03:36 UTC
Is running static code analysis during build relevant?

Comment 6 Ondrej Mosnacek 2021-02-02 16:21:03 UTC
It's not crucial, but it's better to double-check in case Fedora's cppcheck finds something that the upstream CI doesn't (rawhide usually has much more recent cppcheck than the CI). And it helps discover false positives like in this case :)

Comment 7 Ben Cotton 2021-02-09 15:57:32 UTC
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 34 development cycle.
Changing version to 34.
