Description Miro Hrončok 2021-05-11 09:53:48 UTC
kernel-tools fails to build on rawhide. That blocks the Python 3.10 rebuild.

For the build logs with Python 3.10, see:
https://copr-be.cloud.fedoraproject.org/results/@python/python3.10/fedora-rawhide-x86_64/02176740-kernel-tools/

For all our attempts to build kernel-tools with Python 3.10, see:
https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/g/python/python3.10/package/kernel-tools/

Testing and mass rebuild of packages is happening in copr. You can follow these instructions to test locally in mock if your package builds with Python 3.10:
https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/g/python/python3.10/

Let us know here if you have any questions.

Python 3.10 will be included in Fedora 35. To make that update smoother, we're building Fedora packages with early pre-releases of Python 3.10.
A build failure prevents us from testing all dependent packages (transitive [Build]Requires), so if this package is required a lot, it's important for us to get it fixed soon.
We'd appreciate help from the people who know this package best, but if you don't want to work on this now, let us know so we can try to work around it on our side.

Comment 1 Justin M. Forbes 2021-05-11 13:37:25 UTC
Sorry, wasn't aware of the timing, I built kernel-tools yesterday morning, and didn't plan to build again until next Monday. Since I was testing that spec change anyway with a patch queued for Linus' tree at my request, I went ahead and commit the spec changes for that, but didn't add the patch since it was queued for Linus (pulled last night) and would be in rc2. Anyway, added the patch to dist-git, so it should build now.

Comment 2 Miro Hrončok 2021-05-11 13:48:01 UTC
Indeed it builds fine now, thanks.
