Description pj 2023-05-16 19:12:03 UTC
Description of problem:
xrdp-0.9.22-3 does not contain /usr/lib64/xrdp/libvnc.so
xrdp-0.9.21 did.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
xrdp-0.9.22-3

How reproducible:
rpm -ql xrdp|grep libvnc

Steps to Reproduce:
1.rpm -ql xrdp|grep libvnc
2.
3.

Actual results:
No libvnc

Expected results:
/usr/lib64/xrdp/libvnc.so

Additional info:
This causes xrdp to fail to be able to launch sessions and produces an error message "error loading libvnc.so specified in xrdp.ini ...". I've not found any release notes indicating that libvnc.so was intentionally removed.

Comment 6 pj 2023-05-17 12:20:17 UTC
At least the updated EL9 xrdp-*0.9.22-4*.rpm seems to work. I've not yet tried any of the others.

The only odd behavior is that doing an upgrade from 0.9.21 to 0.9.22-4 along with an xrdp.service restart initially failed with a segfault noted in /var/log/messages and a pure black screen for RDP client:
May 17 06:55:44 SOMESYS gnome-session[89881]: gnome-session-check-accelerated: GL Helper exited with code 512
May 17 06:55:44 SOMESYS kernel: gnome-session-c[89896]: segfault at 20 ip 00007fba64891584 sp 00007ffd865d60a8 error 6 in swrast_dri.so[7fba64874000+e8f000]
May 17 06:55:44 SOMESYS kernel: Code: 48 89 fd e8 3e c2 ff ff 48 89 ef 5d e9 e5 6a fe ff 0f 1f 44 00 00 c3 66 2e 0f 1f 84 00 00 00 00 00 0f 1f 44 00 00 f3 0f 1e fa <83> 6f 20 01 48 c7 47 08 00 00 00 00 75 1e 55 48 8b 47 18 48 89 fd

However, a reboot appears to have cleared up that issue luckily. Not sure at this point if some outstanding 0.9.21 bits were still around after update and the xrdp.service restart or what.

Comment 7 Bojan Smojver 2023-05-17 12:59:46 UTC
If these segfaults happen with new xrdp after reboot, you can get more details about them with coredumpctl tool.
