Description Rahul Sundaram 2009-05-27 09:19:33 UTC
Description of problem:

usermode/consolehelper is deprecated since Fedora has a better framework now
called PolicyKit. Please switch to using that instead

I'm tending to close this as "won't fix" or "not a bug"

Is it really better? It's sound like PackageKit and PackageKit isn't a good thing!

I see no advantage for a switch to policykit right now. Let's talk about this in a few months or in a few releases.

Comment 2 John Poelstra 2009-06-08 20:18:52 UTC
Added 'FutureFeature' keyword to avoid rawhide base

Comment 3 Christoph Wickert 2009-11-26 19:55:28 UTC
I will take care of this.

Comment 4 Christoph Wickert 2009-11-27 12:08:48 UTC
Hmm, I thought it was trivial, just change the launchers to "pkexec simple-backup-config" and "pkexec simple-restore-gnome", but this doesn't work because pkexec does not keep the environment, so the display cannot be opened. mclasen told me this is intended, pkexec is not for GUI apps. See
http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17970#c15

The switch to polkit will require major changes in the code. Reassigning to Simon, he will talk to upstream and then decide what to do.

Comment 5 Simon 2009-11-27 13:42:32 UTC
I had the same problem before...

I thought it was my fault. The documentation couldn't help me. Imho the Documentation isn't good!
