This happened when runnning on an unmounted NTFS partition with no options, i.e.,

ntfsck /dev/sda1

This SIGSEGV is easy to fix... but the development of ntfsck was interrupted five years ago, before it did anything useful. Until some kind soul takes over the challenge, use chkdsk on Windows. You may also use ntfsfix to fix mounting issues.
