Description of problem:

The atril-1.8 package which obsoletes mate-document-viewer does not have the atril-thumbnailer executables nor the thumbnailers definitions.
As a consequence pdf thumbnails are not working anymore.

I did build atril without thumbnailer function, because it is buggy and did always produce abrt alarms.
I could closed several bug reports with that.
Do you really need thumbnailer function for a pdf?

"Need" would be a strong world; but aesthetics aside, I've been using pdf thumbnails for a long time to distinguish between different pdfs at a glance.
And I work with pdfs quite a lot. So I've really been using it.
Perhaps a possible solution could be a separate rpm (aka evince-thumbnailer) that's not installed by default, but yet available?

* should fix your issue,
* was pushed to the Fedora 20 testing repository,
* should be available at your local mirror within two days.
Update it with:
# su -c 'yum update --enablerepo=updates-testing atril-1.8.1-2.fc20'
as soon as you are able to.
