Description of problem:

For me, on one machine, lshw segfaults very hard:
# lshw
Segmentation fault

No further diagnosis, no core dump/stack-dump, just a segfault.

Stracing also doesn't seem to be helpful:

My gut feeling is, smp detection is failing.

1. try to run lshw as root:
# lshw

Additional info:
* The segfault does happen, when running lsh as non-root.
* The machine exposing this issue is a ca. 15 year old single-core Pentium III. I can not reproduce it on x86_64s and dual core i686ers.

Yep, even though many folks violently deny this, Fedora works quite well on old machines :-)

# cat /proc/cpuinfo

Of course this is not a "production machine" :-)

Ouch, this is an ugly typo. It was meant to read: 
The segfault only happens when running lshw as root. It does not happen as non-root.

Meanwhile, I also noticed this issue on an Intel Atom N270-based netbook. 
There, it sporadically seems to happen once, directly after system startup/booting. Subsequent calls to lshw do not segfault. 

[gut feeling/wild guess: lshw is accessing non-initialized memory?]

This message is a reminder that Fedora 25 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 25. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora  'version'
of '25'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

able to fix it before Fedora 25 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged  change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.
