Description Mohan Boddu 2018-07-20 14:36:34 UTC
ntop failed to build from source in Fedora rawhide

https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=28208991

For details on the mass rebuild see:

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora_29_Mass_Rebuild
Please fix ntop at your earliest convenience and set the bug's status to
ASSIGNED when you start fixing it. If the bug remains in NEW state for 8 weeks,
ntop will be orphaned. Before branching of Fedora 30,
ntop will be retired, if it still fails to build.

It failed because tcp_wrappers is gone. But if you remove the tcp_wrappers buildrequire it still fails to build, on what looks like a weird autotools failure of some kind (it doesn't actually bother building libnetflowPlugin.o before trying to make it into libnetflowPlugin.so). I do not care enough about this package to fix it.

Comment 5 Jan Kurik 2018-08-14 09:18:40 UTC
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 29 development cycle.
Changing version to '29'.

Comment 7 Allen Hewes 2019-02-25 07:05:50 UTC
I came across this from doing an upgrade from Fedora 28 to Fedora 29. I spent some time working on it and I have fixed it but if the package is on it's way out, don't know if this is useful.

Here's a scratch build of my changes:
https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=33027539

My scratch build should also fix bz#1644735 and bz#1657283. These issues are what lead me to this ticket (because I was getting dnf/yum resolver errors and the package is still marked with the f29 tag).

Comment 12 Fedora Program Management 2021-04-29 16:50:15 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 32 is nearing its end of life.
Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 32 on 2021-05-25.
It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer
maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a
Fedora 'version' of '32'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora 32 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Comment 13 Ben Cotton 2021-05-25 17:14:52 UTC
Fedora 32 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2021-05-25. Fedora 32 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you
are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the
current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this
bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
