It seems to work fine for me locally. Any output on the console before it falls over ? What's the desktop env, default gtk3 under wayland, or something else ?

Comment 2 Joachim Backes 2019-05-22 16:14:49 UTC
1. My desktop is Cinnamon (no wayland)
2. env ->

Comment 3 Caolan McNamara 2019-05-22 19:31:59 UTC
GTK_OVERLAY_SCROLLING=0 looked like a possible trigger, but setting that here, while disabling overlay scrolling, didn't result in any problems for me under GNOME+wayland. GDK_BACKEND=x11 didn't trigger a problem either. I'll try under Cinnamon at some stage

There's a lot of help queries in the strace, is "tools->options->general->extended tips" enabled ?

Comment 7 Joachim Backes 2019-05-23 16:40:29 UTC

 No, I can't remember (if yes, that has been accidentally)

Comment 8 Caolan McNamara 2019-05-23 19:28:19 UTC
I think I can reproduce it with that enabled, so I think I see the problem
