Hello,

Please note that this comment was generated automatically. If you feel that this output has mistakes, please contact me via email (mhroncok).

Your package (gnome-shell-extension-windowoverlay-icons) Fails To Install in Fedora 35:

can't install gnome-shell-extension-windowoverlay-icons:
  - nothing provides gnome-shell < 3.39 needed by gnome-shell-extension-windowoverlay-icons-37-2.fc35.noarch

If you know about this problem and are planning on fixing it, please acknowledge so by setting the bug status to ASSIGNED. If you don't have time to maintain this package, consider orphaning it, so maintainers of dependent packages realize the problem.

If you don't react accordingly to the policy for FTBFS/FTI bugs (https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fesco/Fails_to_build_from_source_Fails_to_install/), your package may be orphaned in 8+ weeks.

P.S. The data was generated solely from koji buildroot, so it might be newer than the latest compose or the content on mirrors.

P.P.S. If this bug has been reported in the middle of upgrading multiple dependent packages, please consider using side tags: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fesco/Updates_Policy/#updating-inter-dependent-packages

Thanks!

Yes, I'm tracking this in Bug #1938036. I'd decided to set the dependencies to `gnome-shell < 3.39` so that Rawhide users couldn't install the extension while it's still broken.

In the case of WindowOverlay Icons, GNOME 40 now provides the basic feature (app icons overlayed on window previews in Overview), if not WindowOverlay's configurability for the icon's placement and appearance. So, they're trying to decide whether to update or discontinue the extension. Hopefully they have everything sorted out before Fedora 34 comes out of beta.

Upstream developer sustmi has not pushed any updates, nor commented on that GitHub issue in a while. Since vanilla GNOME 40 now implements at least WindowOverlay Icons's main feature, I imagine maintaining the extension just to add slightly more display options doesn't seem worth the effort anymore. With the f34 final freeze approaching, I guess I will have to retire this package after all. Retired as of commit 28e3797b03.
