Description Erik Kline 2021-04-09 23:43:39 UTC
Created attachment 1770808 [details]
"journalctl --no-hostname -b > dmesg.txt" but I don't think it shows the failed boot of 5.11.12 nor 5.11.11

1. Please describe the problem:

5.11.10 was the last kernel to boot and decrypt my hard drive successfully.

5.11.11 and 5.11.12 both boot to ask for my disk password and, upon typing it correctly, appear to hang (spinning icon for ever).

2. What is the Version-Release number of the kernel:

5.11.11 and 5.11.12 -300.fc34.x86_64.

3. Did it work previously in Fedora? If so, what kernel version did the issue
*first* appear? Old kernels are available for download at
   https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/packageinfo?packageID=8 :

5.11.10-300.fc34.x86_64

4. Can you reproduce this issue? If so, please provide the steps to reproduce
   the issue below:

  [1] Boot
  [2] select 5.11.11 or (current default) 5.11.12 fc34
[3] get asked for drive password
  [4] enter password
[5] wait forever watching spinning icon
  [6] power cycle device

5. Does this problem occur with the latest Rawhide kernel? To install the
Rawhide kernel, run ``sudo dnf install fedora-repos-rawhide`` followed by
   ``sudo dnf update --enablerepo=rawhide kernel``:

Untested.

6. Are you running any modules that not shipped with directly Fedora's kernel?:

No.

7. Please attach the kernel logs. You can get the complete kernel log
   for a boot with ``journalctl --no-hostname -k > dmesg.txt``. If the
issue occurred on a previous boot, use the journalctl ``-b`` flag.

Comment 1 Erik Kline 2021-04-09 23:44:52 UTC
Sorry, I misread question 3.

5.11.10-300.fc34.x86_64 was the *last working version*.

5.11.11-300.fc34.x86_64 is the version where this boot problem first appeared.
