Description Miro Hrončok 2022-01-08 10:33:23 UTC
Hello,

Please note that this comment was generated automatically. If you feel that this output has mistakes, please contact me via email (mhroncok).

Your package (grpc) Fails To Install in Fedora 36:

can't install grpc:
  - nothing provides libre2.so.0a()(64bit) needed by grpc-1.41.1-5.fc36.x86_64

can't install python3-grpcio:
  - nothing provides libre2.so.0a()(64bit) needed by python3-grpcio-1.41.1-5.fc36.x86_64

If you know about this problem and are planning on fixing it, please acknowledge so by setting the bug status to ASSIGNED. If you don't have time to maintain this package, consider orphaning it, so maintainers of dependent packages realize the problem.

If you don't react accordingly to the policy for FTBFS/FTI bugs (https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fesco/Fails_to_build_from_source_Fails_to_install/), your package may be orphaned in 8+ weeks.

P.S. The data was generated solely from koji buildroot, so it might be newer than the latest compose or the content on mirrors.

P.P.S. If this bug has been reported in the middle of upgrading multiple dependent packages, please consider using side tags: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fesco/Updates_Policy/#updating-inter-dependent-packages

Thanks!

Comment 1 Miro Hrončok 2022-01-08 10:51:50 UTC
A rebuild is blocked by another FTI bug but there also seem to be a bootstrap loop:

   Problem 1: conflicting requests
    - nothing provides (python3.10dist(cachetools) < 5~~ with python3.10dist(cachetools) >= 2) needed by python3-google-auth-1:2.3.3-1.fc36.noarch
   Problem 2: package python3-xds-protos-0.0.11-6.20210907gitv1.40.0.fc36.noarch requires python3.10dist(grpcio), but none of the providers can be installed
    - conflicting requests
    - nothing provides libre2.so.0a()(64bit) needed by python3-grpcio-1.41.1-5.fc36.ppc64le

Comment 2 Miro Hrončok 2022-01-08 10:53:55 UTC
Oh, I see:

# Bootstrapping breaks the circular dependency on python3dist(xds-protos),
# which is packaged separately but ultimately generated from grpc sources using
# the proto compilers in this package; the consequence is that we cannot build
# the python3-grpcio-admin or python3-grpcio-csds subpackages until after
# bootstrapping.
%bcond_with bootstrap

But python3-google-auth is always BuildRequired, so not possible to build now.

Comment 3 Ben Beasley 2022-01-12 22:22:48 UTC
A bootstrap build is now in progress: https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=81163114

It takes a few hours to do a koji build of grpc, but I expect this one will succeed.

The bootstrap build lacks the python3-grpcio-admin and python3-grpcio-csds subpackages, but I don’t think anything blocked on this bug uses those, so things should be able to get moving as soon as this build finishes.
