Description Martin Jackson 2022-10-15 02:12:58 UTC
Description of problem:
gnome-shell-extension-caffeine currently won't start on GNOME 43

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
39

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Install Fedora 37 with GNOME
2.Install gnome-shell-extension-caffeine. Enable it.
3.Extensions reports it is incompatible with the current version of GNOME, due to metadata constraints.

Actual results:
Extension blocked

Expected results:
Extension runs

Additional info:
This commit fixes the issue upstream: https://github.com/eonpatapon/gnome-shell-extension-caffeine/commit/e5b2fe7bdf2ad6ee090125d64bcc037ed81b4a08

As a workaround, it works to add 43 to the allowed versions list in /usr/share/gnome-shell/extensions/caffeine/metadata.json

Comment 1 Jeremy Newton 2022-10-16 04:03:55 UTC
Thanks, it looks like upstream monitoring was broken and I missed the bump 6 days ago. I just fixed it, so it shouldn't happen again if the change is tagged upstream.

Anyway, I'll push a fix shortly for f37.
