This patch fixes the issue: https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=0dc68cabdb626e33d02561529e6a4c681b72a784 Either we apply that in Fedora or we recommend disabling the webcam until 4.18 hits the repos. Thanks for the pointer. It looks like that patch is queued up for the v4.17.3 stable release which should be out tomorrow. kernel-4.17.3-100.fc27 has been submitted as an update to Fedora 27. https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2018-2a0f8b2c9d kernel-4.17.3-200.fc28 has been submitted as an update to Fedora 28. https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2018-d92fde52d7 I updated to 4.17.2-200 on a Lenovo W541 which has a built in camera and I have one attached to the docking station too. The system will not boot, looping forever with kernel messages as indicated in this BZ. When I unplug the camera, and disable the internal camera, I can complete a boot. This worked before the update. Hi Peter, please test the 4.17.3 kernel in Bodhi linked in comment #4 and provide feedback on the update. Thanks! (In reply to Jeremy Cline from comment #6) > Hi Peter, please test the 4.17.3 kernel in Bodhi linked in comment #4 and > provide feedback on the update. Thanks! Darn - I read comment #4 wrong and thought it was the kernel I was on. Duh - I'll test that and update the BZ later today. Thanks for catching it! (In reply to Jeremy Cline from comment #6) > Hi Peter, please test the 4.17.3 kernel in Bodhi linked in comment #4 and > provide feedback on the update. Thanks! That's an affirmative. 4.17.3-200 is problem free. I was using 4.17.2. That's for catching that mis-read. kernel-4.17.3-100.fc27 has been pushed to the Fedora 27 testing repository. If problems still persist, please make note of it in this bug report. See https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA:Updates_Testing for instructions on how to install test updates.
