Description Robert Scheck 2021-01-09 12:49:39 UTC
Description of problem:
Please build python-semver for EPEL 8, it's a dependency of python-natsort. A simple rebuild "as is" seems to work.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
python-semver-2.13.0-1.fc34

Actual results:
No python-semver in EPEL 8.

Expected results:
python-semver-2.13.0-1.el8 - or better ;-)

Additional info:
Please let me know if you are not interested in maintaining the package on EPEL 8 branch.

This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 34 development cycle.
Changing version to 34.

Comment 2 Robert Scheck 2021-03-03 01:23:09 UTC
Igor, may I kindly ask you for any response at all?

Comment 3 Raphael Groner 2021-03-03 18:49:12 UTC
Should I take over here? In assumption to do a review swap with bug #1913737 as python-semwer is an indirect dependency, see bug #1462467.
If yes, please add me as co-maintainer. Lumir Balhar seems to be the new maintainer, according to recent scm commits.

Comment 4 Raphael Groner 2021-03-03 19:08:21 UTC
Scratch build successful.

Could someone give me ACL to let me file branch request?

Comment 5 Lumír Balhar 2021-03-05 14:29:52 UTC
Hello.

Yes, the last few commits are mine but the main admin is only one and it's Igor. We (python-sig) have his blessing to merge what we think is necessary to keep his packages alive and compatible with recent Pythons. We can do that because few of the group members are proven packagers.

Honestly, I have no idea whether a proven packager can request a new branch for a package they do not own and whether it's a good idea to give permissions without approval from the main admin.

Miro, what do you think? Is the non-responsive maintainer policy the only way here?

Comment 6 Miro Hrončok 2021-03-05 15:46:59 UTC
A provenpackager **must not** request an epel branch because that means the branch would have no maintainer.

A nonresponsive policy is not the only way to proceed, there is also https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/EPEL/GuidelinesAndPolicies#Stalled_EPEL_Requests

Comment 7 Raphael Groner 2021-03-05 16:20:25 UTC
Okay, let's wait for another week then, to be of any fairness possible before going to file that rel-eng ticket for request of additional privileges.
AFAIK Igor does not care about epel at all, he told me for several times in IRC.

Comment 8 Igor Raits 2021-03-05 17:16:51 UTC
I've added Raphael as co-maintainer.

Comment 9 Raphael Groner 2021-03-07 17:42:18 UTC
Thanks. Branch requested.
