Description Sébastien Wilmet 2014-09-24 19:32:57 UTC
The installer Anaconda crashes with Fedora 21 alpha, Xfce spin.

How reproducible:
100% reproducible here (tested three times).

Steps to Reproduce:
0. Have an already installed GNU/Linux distribution installed with a swap partition.
1. Start the installer, select manual partitioning.
2. Select the existent swap partition
3. Select "reformat"
4. Click on Update settings or select another partition
5. Crash, a dialog window proposes to report the bug

Due to a freeze after the dialog window appears, I was not able to export the data or report the bug directly. I've tried to run liveinst in a terminal and redirect the output to a file, but the output doesn't contain the backtrace of the crash…

Since I don't know where to report the freeze (X.org?), I report it here with more details.

So when the dialog window appears to report the bug or save the data, I opened a terminal to mount my home partition to be able to save the data on disk, then when I come back to the dialog window, it freezes. I can still move the mouse, but if I click e.g. on another workspace or a menu, it doesn't work. I can still go to a tty (Ctrl+Alt+F2).

The log files from the installation, including a file anaconda-tb-* containing the crash, should be available in /tmp. Please attach those.

the traceback

I managed to copy the traceback. The freeze occurs only when coming _back_ to the error reporting application, but in the meantime the desktop works fine.

This is the same thing that's going on in bug 1114786. I don't have any explanation for the desktop freezing, though. Maybe an xfce bug?
