Looks like broken packages and/or comps, so reassigning to comps.

Comment 7 Kevin Fenzi 2017-04-04 11:44:32 UTC
George: Can you tell us something about this install? What media? What software did you select, etc?

Comment 8 George R. Goffe 2017-04-04 12:20:50 UTC
Kevin,

Thanks for your attention to this bug report... it's appreciated.

The media was a .iso file named "Fedora-Everything-netinst-x86_64-Rawhide-20170317.n.0.iso".

I selected a rather large number of groups. I have "ruined" several installs by adding too many groups and then finding that X11/KDE wouldn't start. I figured that I selected too many groups and that there was one or more that broke or disabled X11 (the headless group?). I suspect that there are packages in the rawhide repo with broken dependencies. Would that cause what happened? I guess there isn't a log file that contains the selected product mix?

I have ideas about the process that developers use to send packages to the repo. At this point there doesn't appear to be anything checking for dependencies or the lack of dependencies, so sometimes the repo gets packages that are broken.

In this case I selected just a few groups and re-ran the install. I'm in the process of installing groups now... looking for those that fail. When that's done, would you like to see what I find?

I'm pretty sure I can re-create the bug.

George...

gziped flat file of broken groups

Kevin,

All the other groups I selected for installation succeeded.

gziped flat file of the groups install script

Kevin,

Here is the script that I used to install selected groups.

Comment 11 Kevin Fenzi 2017-04-05 15:10:57 UTC
ok, so the problem appears to be the electronic-lab group and specifically the ghdl package conflicting with iverlog.

Moving to ghdl package.
