Description Adam Williamson 2017-04-04 21:01:27 UTC
I tested booting Fedora-LXQt-Live-x86_64-26-20170404.n.0.iso (the current F26 nightly LXQt live image). The desktop background is the correct Fedora 26 background image, but if I log out from the live user desktop, the login screen background is not the Fedora 26 background, it's some other abstract blue image.

Comment 1 Christian Dersch 2017-04-04 21:13:16 UTC
Yes, this is known, sddm theme is not yet ready.

Comment 2 Rex Dieter 2017-04-04 21:52:58 UTC
what theme does lxqt use? Apparently not 02-fedora ? (that one should 'just work', as it only references /usr/share/backgrounds/default.png )

if not 02-fedora, can you re-assign this to whatever provides it?

Comment 3 Rex Dieter 2017-04-17 12:06:43 UTC
ping, comment #2 question still remains unanswered

Comment 4 Christian Dersch 2017-05-01 11:18:47 UTC
I did not configure any special theme here, so should be sddm default. Have to investigate what i have to change.

Comment 5 Rex Dieter 2017-05-01 13:45:07 UTC
OK, so it appears that sddm's behavior of finding fallback themes has changed recently (maybe in 0.14 that I failed to notice).

/etc/sddm.conf contains:
[Theme]
Current=01-fedora-breeze

the fallback behavior *used* to be that if 01-fedora-breeze was not present, it would choose the next one alphabetically, which would end up being 02-fedora

That is no longer the case.

sddm now appears to use some internalized fallback (maui?):
* employs userlists (not sure if it gracefully can handle large numbers of users like breeze can)
* does not use fedora wallpaper

Options include:
* spins (like lxqt) can force/customize sddm.conf via kickstart to use a theme of their choice (like 01-fedora)
* I can try find some better global fix for fallback theme

Comment 6 Rex Dieter 2017-05-01 13:45:43 UTC
Sorry, when I said 01-fedora in comment #5, I meant 02-fedora

Comment 7 Raphael Groner 2017-06-11 15:35:56 UTC
Well, who feels responsible for a fix or at least to work around this issue?

> * spins (like lxqt) can force/customize sddm.conf via kickstart to use a theme of their choice (like 01-fedora)
+1 IMHO, this option can fix the live image at least.

Comment 8 Christian Dersch 2017-06-11 16:00:52 UTC
Reassigning for now, has to be fixed in sddm in general, not only LXQt.

Comment 10 Fedora End Of Life 2018-05-03 08:45:25 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 26 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 26. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version'
of '26'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora 26 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Comment 11 Fedora End Of Life 2018-05-29 11:21:42 UTC
Fedora 26 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2018-05-29. Fedora 26
is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any
further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you
are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the
current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this
bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
