Comment 1 Rich Mattes 2020-08-22 01:10:22 UTC
Updating to 11.1.0 doesn't seem to help - I'm seeing the same error from the version in the gazebo-latest copr:
https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/g/robotics-sig/gazebo-latest/

Comment 2 Rich Mattes 2020-08-22 01:17:02 UTC
There's some other reports of similar behavoir around the internet:

https://discuss.ardupilot.org/t/gazebo-stuck-at-preparing-your-world/34597
https://answers.gazebosim.org//question/14237/problem-with-launching-the-gazebo/

I've waited for a bit for things to download per some of the suggestions, but it doesn't seem to be doing anything on the network according to nethogs. I'm going to try building against a newer version of OGRE next.

I tried leaving it open all night long no difference. Have tried with a Mac using ssh -X and XQuartz, X2Go, and MobaXterm, all the same.

Would like to hear if you were successful.

Comment 4 Rich Mattes 2020-08-22 15:24:06 UTC
I built gazebo-11.1.0 against ogre-1.12.8 locally, I'm still seeing the same problem. The bug is reported upstream at https://github.com/osrf/gazebo/issues/2457, I'll follow up there.

Comment 5 Rich Mattes 2020-08-22 23:55:40 UTC
Per the upstream bug, I tracked down the issue to the symbol visibility flags. I'll push an updated gazebo 10 to f32 and up disabling symbol hiding as a work-around until the underlying cause is found and fixed.
