Description of problem:

While Gnome has introduced a new wallpaper (temporary or final) to be used with the Beta release of Fedora 33, KDE is still using the Fedora 32 Wallpaper.

How reproducible:

Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. See the default wallpaper

Actual results:

Fedora 32 Wallpaper

Expected results:

Fedora 33 Wallpaper is used

Comment 1 Lukas Ruzicka 2020-09-10 16:15:22 UTC
To be more exact, the new wallpaper is visible on the screensaver screen (or locked screen) but not on the default workspace wallpaper.

Comment 2 Fedora Blocker Bugs Application 2020-09-10 16:19:32 UTC
Proposed as a Blocker for 33-beta by Fedora user lruzicka using the blocker tracking app because:

Proposing as a Final Blocker based on the following criterion:

Artwork

The proposed final Fedora artwork must be included and used as the background on release-blocking desktops. All Fedora artwork visible in critical path actions on release-blocking desktops must be consistent with the proposed final theme.

What version of kde-settings? That should have been fixed in https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/kde-settings/c/ff33e1467fb79d3390b6f45f33b3546925f06162?branch=f33

Comment 4 Lukas Ruzicka 2020-09-10 16:40:48 UTC
kde-settings-32.2-2.fc33.noarch

Comment 5 Ben Cotton 2020-09-10 16:54:42 UTC
The updated kde-settings (33.0-1) landed in the 0909 compose. If you're using a compose older than that, try yesterday's or today's. If you're using a compose that should have the fix, let's reopen bug 1869892 and mark this as blocking it.

Comment 6 Lukas Ruzicka 2020-09-10 16:58:24 UTC
This behaviour was observed in the 0909 compose. At the same time, it has offered me like 300+ updates, so I am updating now and will see what it brings.

Comment 7 Lukas Ruzicka 2020-09-10 17:06:11 UTC
So, the updates finished I rebooted and the background stayed the same (Fedora 32). However, in Settings the new background was already offered and I could select it and have it used.
I believe the backgrounds might be ready in 20200910 compose, which I did not have for testing.

I think we can close this bug and I will reopen it, if there is a problem with later composes.

KDE kinda locks in some settings at the time a user profile is created. So if you for e.g. install with an older F33 and create a user, then update kde-settings, you won't necessarily get the new wallpaper everywhere (or anywhere). It's best to test with a fresh install of a compose that definitely has the update in it. Closing for now, re-open if you test with a fresh compose that definitely contains kde-settings-33.0-1.fc33 or later at the time you create the account.
