For all our attempts to build python-setuptools with Python 3.10, see:
https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/g/python/python3.10/package/python-setuptools/

Testing and mass rebuild of packages is happening in copr. You can follow these instructions to test locally in mock if your package builds with Python 3.10:
https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/g/python/python3.10/

Let us know here if you have any questions.

Python 3.10 will be included in Fedora 35. To make that update smoother, we're building Fedora packages with early pre-releases of Python 3.10.
A build failure prevents us from testing all dependent packages (transitive [Build]Requires), so if this package is required a lot, it's important for us to get it fixed soon.
We'd appreciate help from the people who know this package best, but if you don't want to work on this now, let us know so we can try to work around it on our side.

Upstream issue: https://github.com/pypa/setuptools/issues/2558

(Bugzilla errors with Jira stuff when I try to add it to the appropriate field.)

This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 34 development cycle.
Changing version to 34.

This PR was upstreamed and released in setuptools 56.0.0 that contains also fix[0] for ImportWarning: VendorImporter.find_spec() not found; falling back to find_module() we experienced with 7th alpha of Python 3.10. I created update[1] to this version but seems like there is another similar error with a different ImportWarning on Python 3.10 (see below). For now, I build setuptools 56.0.0 in our Python 3.10 COPR without tests.

_SixMetaPathImporter? That looks like an issue in python-six. Did that build well?
