Hello,

Please note that this comment was generated automatically. If you feel that this output has mistakes, please contact me via email (mhroncok).

Your package (wlcs) Fails To Install in Fedora 36:

can't install wlcs:
  - nothing provides libgtest.so.1.10.0()(64bit) needed by wlcs-1.3.0-2.fc35.x86_64
  - nothing provides libgmock.so.1.10.0()(64bit) needed by wlcs-1.3.0-2.fc35.x86_64

If you know about this problem and are planning on fixing it, please acknowledge so by setting the bug status to ASSIGNED. If you don't have time to maintain this package, consider orphaning it, so maintainers of dependent packages realize the problem.

If you don't react accordingly to the policy for FTBFS/FTI bugs (https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fesco/Fails_to_build_from_source_Fails_to_install/), your package may be orphaned in 8+ weeks.

P.S. The data was generated solely from koji buildroot, so it might be newer than the latest compose or the content on mirrors.

P.P.S. If this bug has been reported in the middle of upgrading multiple dependent packages, please consider using side tags: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fesco/Updates_Policy/#updating-inter-dependent-packages

Thanks!

The gtest package (https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/gtest) was updated to 1.11.0 in Rawhide with an unannounced breaking ABI change. See the comments on https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2021-7f23873afa, the F35 update that was unpushed. A simple rebuild of wlcs should take care of the problem.

This package has changed maintainer in Fedora. Reassigning to the new maintainer of this component.

Comment 5 Ben Beasley 2021-11-02 17:37:59 UTC
I just claimed this package.

@mtasaka I see you pushed a patch to backport a gtest 1.11 fix from upstream. Thanks! Would you like to be a co-maintainer?

I’m closing this issue since Mamoru Tasaka’s patch and build already resolved it. Still, I’ll go ahead and do a little further cleanup—auditing source licenses, double-checking %ifarch conditionals, dropping crufty old workarounds, and so on—as I usually do when claiming an orphaned package.

Comment 6 Mamoru TASAKA 2021-11-02 23:09:52 UTC
Hello, @music

I am already a provenpackager and I just wanted to cleanup recent F-36 breakage due to lttng-rst:
https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/devel@lists.fedoraproject.org/thread/H5ZJQTPRHY7UBH3IOZKNIHQRI5CK3CSM/

The reason I backported patch to wlcs is that:
- mir was broken with new lttng-rst, so rebuild was needed
- mir depends on wlcs, but wlcs was broken, so rebuild was needed
- wlcs needed patch for gtest 1.11

Currently I am not a user on mir, so I want to leave wlcs maintainership to you.
Anyway thank you for getting maintainership for wlcs.

Ok, great! Thanks for the patch.

I’m not a mir user either, so I’d prefer if someone who is a mir user picks up that package. If that doesn’t happen, I’ll consider it…
