Description Diego Herrera 2022-04-07 22:47:27 UTC
Description of problem:
hash-slinger doesn't install on EPEL9 because nothing provides neither python3-m2crypto nor python3-gnupg on EPEL9

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
hash-slinger-3.1-2.el9.noarch

Steps to Reproduce:
1. sudo dnf -y install hash-slinger

Actual results:
...
Problem: conflicting requests
 - nothing provides python3-m2crypto needed by hash-slinger-3.1-2.el9.noarch
 - nothing provides python3-gnupg >= 0.3.7 needed by hash-slinger-3.1-2.el9.noarch

Additional info:

Ask for the packages to get ported to EPEL9 (https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/epel/fedora-package-in-epel/).

From what I have checked, both packages are available on EPEL8, you would just need to ask the package maintainers to port them to EPEL9.
* https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/python-gnupg
* https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/m2crypto

python-gnupg should build just fine on EPEL9, but m2crypto needs some python dependencies ported for it to build as it is.

This problem was found using the following service:
https://tdawson.fedorapeople.org/epel/willit/epel9/status-wont-install.html

Comment 1 Frank Crawford 2022-04-09 12:09:16 UTC
Thanks. I will follow up with the required packages to see if we can get them in.

Comment 2 Frank Crawford 2022-04-15 09:53:29 UTC
Raised BZ2075780 for python-gnupg
Already BZ2030648 exists for m2crypto, but is blocked by an upstream issue.

Comment 3 Frank Crawford 2023-01-06 11:10:25 UTC
All required packages are now available and hash-slinger now installs properly on RHEL9, and is no longer listed on https://tdawson.fedorapeople.org/epel/willit/epel9/status-wont-install.html
