Description Fedora Fails To Install 2023-09-05 21:29:54 UTC
Hello,

Please note that this comment was generated automatically by https://pagure.io/releng/blob/main/f/scripts/ftbfs-fti/follow-policy.py
If you feel that this output has mistakes, please open an issue at https://pagure.io/releng/

Your package (yubikey-manager) Fails To Install in Fedora 40:

can't install python3-yubikey-manager:
  - nothing provides (python3.12dist(keyring) < 24~~ with python3.12dist(keyring) >= 23.4) needed by python3-yubikey-manager-5.2.0-1.20230821gitd1bf843.fc40.noarch

If you know about this problem and are planning on fixing it, please acknowledge so by setting the bug status to ASSIGNED. If you don't have time to maintain this package, consider orphaning it, so maintainers of dependent packages realize the problem.

If you don't react accordingly to the policy for FTBFS/FTI bugs (https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fesco/Fails_to_build_from_source_Fails_to_install/), your package may be orphaned in 8+ weeks.

P.S. The data was generated solely from koji buildroot, so it might be newer than the latest compose or the content on mirrors. To reproduce, use the koji/local repo only, e.g. in mock:

    $ mock -r fedora-40-x86_64 --config-opts mirrored=False install python3-yubikey-manager

P.P.S. If this bug has been reported in the middle of upgrading multiple dependent packages, please consider using side tags: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fesco/Updates_Policy/#updating-inter-dependent-packages

Thanks!

See https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/python-keyring/pull-request/24. I should have double-checked for version upper bounds rather than taking the successful impact check in https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/python-keyring/pull-request/23 at face value.

yubikey-manager upstream still requires "^23.4", but the code doesn’t appear to use the keyring.backends.OS_X or keyring.util.properties modules, and the removal of these modules was the only breaking change in version 24, so it should be possible to loosen the dependency version.

I requested that the python-keyring build be untagged from Rawhide to buy us a little time to deal with the incompatible version bounds: https://pagure.io/releng/issue/11660

Thanks for the info. I notified upstream yesterday (see bug above).

If you feel that this output has mistakes, please open an issue at https://pagure.io/releng/

All subpackages of a package against which this bug was filled are now installable or removed from Fedora 40.

Thanks for taking care of it!

Anyway, this is now happening for real.

> Anyway, this is now happening for real.

Yes, I am aware. If you look at the upstream tracking bug you will see where upstream
has resolved the issue and will be releasing a new version in the next week or so
to address. Since this only affects F40, I believe it is reasonable to wait this
short amount of time to do the update. If I'm mistaken and there is some urgency
that I'm missing, please advise and I'll immediately do the patch and then in another
week do another update.

Comment 7 Gerald Cox 2023-10-07 14:19:39 UTC
It has been 2 weeks and upstream still hasn't pushed the update, so I'm patching for rawhide.
Will apply the upstream update when available.
