Description David Nielsen 2008-03-28 11:46:50 UTC
Description of problem:
I noticed that with one of the recent updates gdm would stop accepting input
from my keyboard, so I updated to the very latest and now gdm fails to even start.

However if I boot into single user mode and run startx, X will start up, the
mouse will work and as soon as I click the "continue" button in the dialog that
warns of the dangers of running as root X shuts down with the following message:

(EE) VMWARE(0): vmmouse enable failed
expected keysym, got XF86Info: line 914 of inet

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
xorg-x11-server-1.4.99.901-13.20080314.fc9

is a Logitech Trackman Wheel (also USB connected). Keyboard functions just fine
in CLI.

Hrm, that was when we were doing vmware mouse everywhere, which I think we've
stopped doing. Is this still happening for you David?

Comment 4 Jesse Keating 2008-04-03 18:26:03 UTC
(also, moving off blocker as we aren't using vmmouse everywhere now)

(unless of course, you're running /in/ vmware, are you David?)

Comment 5 David Nielsen 2008-04-03 23:39:35 UTC
vmware is proprietary software.. why in the name of ancient pagan gods would
anyone want that?

I can't tell you if this still happens, I needed my development machine
functional to get Beagle pushed out to the repos so I reverted to F8 after
having lived without X for a good week. I will test again soonish and reopen if
this still happens.
