Description Nerijus Baliūnas 2009-10-29 19:11:38 UTC
I have gnustep-base-1.18.0-5.fc11.i586 and gnustep-base-devel-1.18.0-5.fc11.i586, when trying to install libFoundation-devel:

yum install libFoundation libFoundation-devel

I get Transaction Check Error:
file /usr/include/Foundation/Foundation.h from install of libFoundation-devel-1.1.3-11.fc9.i386 conflicts with file from package gnustep-base-devel-1.18.0-5.fc11.i586

Comment 1 Jochen Schmitt 2009-11-01 20:05:13 UTC
I have contact the maintainer of the libFoundation library. The issue is, that both packages implement the OpenStep Foundation library on Fedora, so we have make a dicission which library should be the default in the Fedora distribution

Comment 2 Jochen Schmitt 2009-11-09 15:32:20 UTC
Because I saw no package which is depending on libfoundation and gnustep-base has for example unicode support instead of libfoundation, I want to suggest to remove the libFoundation package from the Fedora collection, if there are no very strong argument for this package.

Comment 3 Bug Zapper 2010-04-28 11:00:48 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 11 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 11. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora
'version' of '11'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 11's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 11 is end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this
bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version,
please add a comment here and someone will do it for you.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping

Comment 4 Bug Zapper 2010-06-28 15:20:50 UTC
Fedora 11 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2010-06-25. Fedora 11 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.

Comment 5 Jochen Schmitt 2010-06-28 15:25:31 UTC
I have readjust this bug to rawhide and reopen it, because this is a general issue of intrduction gnustep on Fedora.

Comment 6 Jochen Schmitt 2010-06-28 15:26:45 UTC
Ping Axel

Comment 7 Axel Thimm 2010-07-05 19:06:49 UTC
Let's kill it.

Comment 8 Axel Thimm 2010-07-05 21:55:00 UTC
Actually the package was already dead since half a year now. Why were you pinging?
It is still there in FC12, but you won't be able to *remove* it from a released distribution. For F13 and rawhide there was no libFoundation anymore.
