X log without KMS

With KMS disabled, Xorg has no problem with this EDID.

Comment 5 George 2009-11-17 14:29:12 UTC
Experiencing the same bug on a ati RV570 [Radeon X1950 Pro] card.
kernel 2.6.31.5-127.fc12.x86_64 (fedora 12 x64 live cd).

Disabling kms, Xorg has no problem with the EDID.

The monitor is a CRT 17", DataVision (detected as Kingston Tech Corporation 16" when kms is disabled, and detected as "unknown" with kms enabled) connected through a vga-to-dvi adapter

Ondrej is the resolution properly detect with kms disabled ? if so please attach Xorg.log of such session.

George & Ondrej please test with the following kernel :
http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=141560
(download rpm which match your config, i686 or x86-64 and install it with rpm -ivh)

There are no problems detecting EDID/getting correct resolutions with kms disabled, see Xorg.0.log from that session in comment #6

Will test with the new kernel as soon as possible

Comment 14 George 2009-11-18 13:22:51 UTC
Tested with kernel 2.6.31.6-134.fc12.i686 from the link you mentioned.
No joy on detecting EDID

Attached the dmesg and Xorg.0.log from the session on this new kernel

Comment 19 George 2009-11-24 16:12:34 UTC
may be unrelated, but there was a similar case on fedora forums where a intel card user (Intel 82Q963/Q965 graphics) required "nomodesetting" parameter in order to get the corret resolutions. It may not be limited only to xorg-x11-drv-ati component.
