In the Blank Configuration screen the cursor changes to a hand over the root and user fields; progress not shown until intramfs (sp) so it is possible to install if one knows about this bug.

It's related to the bug referenced in that bug, https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=733967, along with various other theme and style changes that have been made recently. mate-themes needs to be updated for compatibility with the latest gtk.
