Description Jonas Ådahl 2020-11-18 10:44:54 UTC
+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #1896586 +++

NOTE: gnome-shell side of things handled in https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1896586.

Description of problem:

Gnome GUI does not have a modem controls. It will not show up in the top right corner menu nor does it work within Gnome settings as well.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

gnome-shell-3.38.1-2.fc33.x86_64

How reproducible:

Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start the Fedora
2. Try to start or access modem

Actual results:

Nothing. No modem menu nor modem control

Expected results:

Modem entry shall be there.

Additional info:

Modem Manager GUI will see modem, but is unable to activate connections etc, but at least nmtui does work and will let activate modem profiles.

Also, gnome-control-center does not have the modem related parts as well.

I am suspecting the Gnome to be broken from the settings side of things, but just issuing dconf reset -f /org/gnome/ for the current user did not change a thing. Is there something more to check and reset?

Modem controls are back and seem to work again as well.

Note: The gnome-control-center modem portion is not working for me, but I have desktop top right corner menu what does work.
